Movie trailers headed your way...

Two great trailers have showed up over the Christmas holiday. The first is for "Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer", and I tell you, it looks awesome...view it on Apple's website

http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/fantasticfourriseofthesilversurfer/

The other is for the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez double feature, "Grindhouse". I think I'm going to like the zombie story more than the other one, but either way, I'm there! Check out the trailer here

http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/grindhouse.html

On the software front, tonight on Snortyville I'm going to load up an awk script that takes the output from the DOS "dir/s" command and extracts the name of the file and the size of the file in bytes. This is coming from a project to catalog all of my files on CDs and DVDs, so more software coming soon. The script is in awk, so you'll either have to be running unix/linux or have gnuawk installed on your Windows box.

Haven't had time over the holidays to update, but here we are...26 minutes away from the end of X-Mas! :-)

Just some movie news to report...

The new Transformers movie (due out in the states 7/7/07) has its first full trailer out. See it here:

http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/transformers_hd.html

(if you have a slower computer, pick the 480P version, and let it stutter through to the end, then start it again...it should work fine after that)

I liked the trailer. It had some really great shots in it. But I hope they don't humanize the Transformers too much, or have some political message tacked on to the movie. I would really, really hate that!

The snow has arrived!!!

Better pictures tomorrow, but here's one out the front of the house...

Successfully downloaded VC#, now its time to get the XNA toolkit.
Last day of work for the year tomorrow...if I can even get into work to start with.

Is it 500pm Wednesday yet???

Too late to start anything major, so my first step in getting the XNA Development environment on my computer is downloading Visual C# Express. All 400+ MB. That's all I'm going to do tonight.

The weather is nasty right now. Not snow yet, but lots of cold, cold wind. We'll see what its like tomorrow.

BTW, 500pm wednesday is the end of the last day of work for the year :-)

Looks like a cold couple of days...

A storm is headed towards the southwest, supposed to get here by this time tomorrow, we'll see. In the past, when they've said its going to snow, it never does. When they don't, it snows a ton. I get the feeling its going to at least snow a couple of inches though.

Tomorrow, hopefully, some words on developing a game using the XNA toolkit from Microsoft.

Working on...

The Dresden Files Concordance for Snortyville. Plus dumping files off the disk in preparation for the x-mas reinstall. It's been years since I've reinstalled XP on any of the computers, so this year will be it.

The First Post

Hello. I am "J" at Snortyville.com, welcome to The Connection, where everything under the sun will be discussed, hopefully in a manner that will amuse and entertain you. I want to first point you towards the website, Snortyville.com, where you'll find all manner of book, movie, and game reviews (not so many games, at least not yet). But, we're just getting started, so bear with us as we build a hopefully interesting site for you to peruse, as well as a daily discussion about all things related to pop culture and the like. Again, welcome, and I hope you'll keep coming back!
